How Greece taking part in World War II was a turning point in History
Greece did several things during World War II to change the course of the war. Among these things were:
If Greece hadn't taken part in the war, the whole course of the war would've changed. Germany would've never fought Russia when it did and the war may have turned out very differently.
- Boosting Morale- Greece was such a small country, and to say "NO" to the Axis powers and succeed stunned the other Allies and it gave the rest of the world hope
- Weakening the Axis Powers- Mussolini lost many men, planes, and other resources needed for the war effort also, Hitler lost his best paratroopers in Crete, Greece
- Backing Up Hitler's March to Russia- After Greece defeated Mussolini, Hitler had to make a large U-Turn and come back to defeat Greece. This set him back 5 weeks by then it was mid-summer. By the time Hitler's army got to Russia it was winter. Russian winters are brutal. The Soviets were prepared for a harsh winter , but the Germans weren't.
